Building Routines that Ground You

Creating a morning and nighttime routine is one of the most effective ways to set yourself up for success throughout the day. It can also be really helpful for busy people because once you establish the routine firmly it can save time.  You won’t have to think about it, you just do it.  There is no right or wrong way to develop a routine since what works best for one person may not work for another. However, there are some key steps that you can take to develop routines that work for you.


Starting your morning with a few calming or energizing rituals, such as 2-5 minutes meditating, drinking water or doing some squats or counter pushups when you’re making your tea or coffee or breakfast, can help get you in the right mindset to tackle the day ahead.


Likewise, establishing a regular nighttime routine, whether taking some time to read quietly before bed or practicing some yoga/stretches before drifting off to sleep, allows you to relieve stress and calm your mind as you transition into a more restful state. Overall, morning and nighttime routines can be indispensable tools for achieving wellbeing and balance.


One of the key considerations when creating a routine is flexibility. You don't need to follow your schedule exactly every day; instead, try to be adaptable and make adjustments where necessary. This will help ensure that your routine continues working for you over time as your priorities and needs change. At the end of the day, it's all about finding a balance between productivity and happiness, so don't be afraid to experiment until you find a routine that suits you perfectly.
